Botox
BOTOX is a novel treatment derived from
bacteria. Know as either BOTOX or Botulinum Toxin Type A,
the brand name BOTOX is produced in controlled laboratory
conditions and given in extremely small therapeutic doses.
Our patients use BOTOX to help erase frown lines, crow's
feet, and forehead lines. This treatment is quite popular
and, when used in combination with other rejuvenation treatments,
is very successful.
BOTOX has been used since 1995 for wrinkle
reduction. If people ask you why you look angry, sad, or
tired all the time, you are ready for BOTOX. BOTOX is not
a wrinkle cream or abrasion treatment. BOTOX is a natural
substance that is injected in very small doses directly
into the muscle that controls the wrinkle. BOTOX injections
have been used safely since 1995. Each year, thousands of
patients receive BOTOX for a variety of aesthetic conditions.
It is popular for the treatment of frown lines, crow's feet,
or wrinkles around the eyes, and forehead lines. While BOTOX
needs to be injected every three to six months, the duration
of treatment benefits increase over time so that fewer treatments
are usually required in the future.
About the Procedure
BOTOX is a simple and safe procedure.
Using a tiny needle, a very small amount of BOTOX is injected
into locations on the face. Because the needle is so fine
and only a small amount of liquid is used, the discomfort
associated with the injections is minimal. Most patients
compare the sensation to a bug bite. No sedation or local
anesthetic is needed, and you can resume normal activities
immediately. You can even drive yourself home or back to
the office.
FAQs
How is BOTOX administered?
BOTOX is injected into the muscle using
a very tiny needle similar to those used to inject insulin.
How long does the effect last?
Given its unique mechanism of action,
BOTOX offers sustained benefits, dose after dose, over the
course of long-term treatment. Your first treatment will
usually last approximately three months. You will notice
a gradual fading of its effects. At that time, you should
return for your next treatment. As you continue to receive
BOTOX treatments, the effects last even longer, up to six
to eight months. The degree of relief and duration of effect
varies from person to person.
How long can I be treated with BOTOX?
Treatment with BOTOX can typically be
repeated indefinitely.
Pre-and Post-Treatment
There are really no pre-treatment requirements.
However, after your treatment, we request that you move
the treated muscles frequently and not lie flat on your
back for four hours.
